Erik Rico is an American musician who can do it all. He is a talented singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ. He is also a multi-instrumentalist, which means he can play many instruments, including the guitar, bass, piano, and drums.

A Musical Journey
Erik Rico was born in North Carolina and grew up moving between there and New York. His musical talent was noticed early in his career.
In 1997, he was signed to a major record label, Columbia Records, by executive Randy Jackson, who later became a famous judge on American Idol. This was a huge step in his career.
Rico also became a "sound designer" for the famous artist and photographer David LaChapelle. This means he was in charge of creating the right musical mood for LaChapelle's projects.
Traveling the World
Between 2007 and 2011, Rico was part of a special program called the Hip Hop Ambassador program. This was sponsored by the United States government.
As an ambassador, he traveled to countries like Morocco, Tunisia, and Indonesia. The goal was to share positive examples of American music and culture with people around the world.
Working with Music Stars
A big part of Erik Rico's career has been working with other famous artists. As a producer and writer, he helps other musicians create their songs.

- He worked with the hip-hop group Jurassic 5 on their song "Linguistics."
- He wrote and produced music for Q-Tip from the group A Tribe Called Quest.
- He also worked with Tre' from the group The Pharcyde.
- In 2001, he was a writer and producer for the Tupac Shakur album The Rose that Grew from Concrete. This album put music to poems written by the legendary rapper.
- He produced music for Ladybug Mecca, a member of the group Digable Planets.

Besides working with others, Erik Rico releases his own music through his label, LifeNotes Music. His albums often mix different styles, from soul to dancehall and house.
