Erschwil is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the Thierstein district. It's part of the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Erschwil has a long history! It was first mentioned way back in 1147. Back then, it was known by a slightly different name: Hergiswilre.

Erschwil covers an area of about 7.43 square kilometers (that's about 2.87 square miles). A big part of this land, almost 58%, is covered by forests. About 35% of the area is used for farming, like growing crops or for pastures where animals graze.

The town itself, with its buildings and roads, takes up about 7% of the land. There are also a few rivers or lakes, but they make up a very small part of the area.

Erschwil is located in the Thierstein district. It's a long village that stretches out on both sides of the Lüssel river.
