Montsevelier is a small village in the Jura canton of Switzerland. It used to be its own municipality, which is like a small town or district. On January 1, 2013, Montsevelier joined with two other villages, Vermes and Vicques, to form a new, larger municipality called Val Terbi. It's located in the Delémont district.

A Glimpse into Montsevelier's Past

Montsevelier has a long history! It was first written about in the year 1136. Back then, it was called Muzivilir. For a while, it also had a German name, Mutzwil, but that name isn't used anymore.

Montsevelier is located in the upper part of a valley called Val Terbi. It covers an area of about 7.75 square kilometers (about 3 square miles).

Most of the land in Montsevelier is used for farming or is covered by forests. About half of the area (50.2%) is used for farms, where crops are grown or animals graze. A large part (45.8%) is covered in thick forests.

A smaller part of the land (4.1%) has buildings and roads. There are also a few rivers and lakes, but they make up a very tiny part of the area.
