What's the Story?

Mysterious Witch Mountain

Near a small town, there's a place called Witch Mountain. People say it has strange powers. One day, a waitress named Zoe Moon (Perrey Reeves) finds two baby twins, Anna and Danny. When their hands touch, a wave of purple energy appears! Before Zoe can do anything, a man named Bruno (Brad Dourif) takes Anna. He puts her on a truck, but runs away when Sheriff Bronson (Kevin Tighe) sees him.

Twins Reunited

Danny (Erik von Detten) grows up moving between different foster families. He often tries to run away. After his latest attempt, his social worker takes him to an orphanage run by Lindsay Brown (Lynne Moody). There, he meets Anna (Elisabeth Moss). She saves him from an older boy named Xander (Sam Horrigan).

At first, Danny and Anna don't know they are related. But they start doing the same strange things. Soon, they realize they are siblings and have special powers!

A New Home and a Secret

A rich man named Edward Bolt (Robert Vaughn) wants to build on Witch Mountain. He notices the twins' powers. He decides to adopt them as their foster father. Danny is happy to have his sister and a nice home. But Anna feels uneasy about Bolt. She becomes friends with Bolt's driver, Luthor (Brad Dourif), who feels a connection to the twins.

Discovering Their Origin

One day, Anna uses her powers at a purple general store. The store owner, Waldo Fudd (Vincent Schiavelli), sees her. Waldo reveals that he has the same powers! He tells them they are aliens from another world. On their home planet, everyone has a twin. They came to Earth to explore, but got separated because of arguments. Waldo has been trying to bring them all back together.

Meanwhile, Zoe sees the purple light from Waldo's shop. She remembers the purple energy from the twins years ago. She confronts Waldo to find out what happened to the babies she saw. Waldo gives her clues if she wants to help Anna and Danny.

Bolt's True Plan

Bolt then shows his real plan. He wants to use the twins' powers to blast open Witch Mountain. He wants to get valuable rock material from inside. Waldo warns him not to disturb the mountain, but Bolt doesn't listen.

Anna finds out the truth about Bolt's plan. She tries to warn Danny using her mind. But Bolt holds her hostage to make Danny do what he wants. Luckily, Xander helps the twins escape! They ride a horse to Waldo's shop. Danny can even talk to the horse to get its help. Lindsay, the social worker, becomes suspicious of Bolt when he sends the police after the children.

Escape to Witch Mountain

Zoe and Bruno help Danny and Anna escape to Witch Mountain. The twins even use their powers to make Bruno's truck float! Sheriff Bronson arrests Bolt after Luthor tells him about Bolt's evil plan.

At Witch Mountain, Waldo and other reunited twins are waiting for Anna and Danny. They are all ready to go home. The last pair of twins to arrive are Bruno and Luthor! Using Waldo's power, all the twins return home in pairs. Anna and Danny go last, closing the gate between Earth and their home world. Waldo casually says he'll wait for the next group of "tourists." Anna and Danny float up into purple smoke towards Witch Mountain. Zoe says that Witch Mountain isn't haunted, but full of light.
