Facundo Daniel Torres Pérez (born April 13, 2000) is a talented Uruguayan football player. He plays as an attacking midfielder or winger for the Brazilian club Palmeiras. He also plays for the Uruguay national team.
Before joining Palmeiras, Torres played for Peñarol in Uruguay. He helped them win the 2021 Uruguayan Primera División title. He also played for Orlando City in the United States, where he became a key player.

Early Life and First Steps in Football
Facundo Torres was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. He grew up in a place called La Paz, Canelones. When he was four, he went to his first football practice. He didn't seem very interested at first!
Later, he started playing with friends at La Paz Wanderers. He enjoyed it much more there. After that, he spent a year with Defensor Sporting.
Joining Peñarol's Academy
When he was 10, Facundo was chosen to play in a big national championship. Scouts from Peñarol, a famous Uruguayan club, noticed his talent. They invited him to join their youth academy.
At Peñarol, Torres even traveled to Brazil for a special tournament. He was two years younger than many teammates, like Federico Valverde. But he still stood out as a great player.
In 2014, he helped Peñarol win an under-15 national title. By age 15, in 2016, he was invited to train with the professional senior team. A big Italian club, Juventus, even tried to sign him. But his father thought he was too young to move so far away. Facundo stayed at Peñarol to keep developing his skills.
Club Career

Facundo Torres first joined a senior match day squad in 2018. But he didn't play in a game until August 16, 2020. His first senior game was for Peñarol against Boston River. He came on as a substitute and scored his first goal just five minutes later!
He also played in the Copa Libertadores, which is a big international club competition in South America. He scored one goal in a 3–0 win. In his first season, Torres played 34 games and scored 10 goals.
Winning the Championship in 2021
In 2021, Torres scored four goals in the 2021 Copa Sudamericana. This is another important South American club tournament. Peñarol reached the semi-finals.
In his last game for Peñarol, he scored an important goal in the championship play-offs. This helped Peñarol draw 1–1 and then win in a penalty shoot-out. Because Peñarol had the most points overall, they became the champions of the 2021 Uruguayan Primera División! Torres played 33 games and scored 10 goals that season.
Orlando City
On January 24, 2022, Facundo Torres moved to the United States. He signed with Major League Soccer (MLS) club Orlando City. He joined as a Young Designated Player, which means he was a special, high-value player for the team. The transfer fee was a club record $9 million.
First Season and U.S. Open Cup Victory
Torres played his first game for Orlando on February 11, 2022. He scored his first goal for the club on March 19 in a 1–0 win against LA Galaxy.
A big moment came on September 7, 2022. Torres scored two goals in the final of the 2022 U.S. Open Cup. This helped Orlando City win the game 3–0 against Sacramento Republic FC. It was the club's first major trophy since joining MLS in 2015! Torres was one of the top goal scorers in the competition.

Torres scored his first two goals in a regular season game on June 3, 2023, in a 3–0 win. He also scored the winning penalty in a penalty shoot-out during the 2023 Leagues Cup.
In 2023, Torres scored 14 goals in 39 games. He also had five assists, meaning he led the team with 19 goal contributions.
Setting New Club Records in 2024
On January 10, 2024, Torres signed a new contract with Orlando City. He also changed his jersey number from 17 to 10. The number 10 is often given to the team's most creative and important player.
He started the 2024 season strong, scoring two goals in an international club game. On June 22, he scored two goals in his 100th game for Orlando City.
On September 28, Torres scored a goal that tied him for the most goals ever scored for Orlando City across all competitions, with 44 goals. He also set a new club record for goal contributions in a single season with 26 (17 goals and 9 assists).
Just a few days later, on October 2, he scored his 18th goal of the season. This made him the top goal scorer in Orlando City's history! By the end of the season, Torres had scored 20 goals in 44 games, which was another club record. He also had nine assists, totaling 29 goal contributions, which was his best season yet.
Palmeiras
On December 20, 2024, Facundo Torres moved to the Brazilian club Palmeiras. This was a record transfer fee for Orlando City, reportedly up to $14 million. Torres signed a five-year contract. He was happy to join his former Peñarol teammate, Joaquín Piquerez, at the club.
He made his debut for Palmeiras on January 18, 2025, in a game that ended in a 1–1 draw.
International Career
Youth Teams
Facundo Torres played for Uruguay's national youth teams at different age levels: under-15, under-17, and under-20.
He was part of the Uruguay squad at the 2015 South American U-15 Championship. He scored five goals in five games, helping Uruguay finish second. He is also the all-time top scorer for Uruguay's under-17 team. He played in the 2017 South American U-17 Championship.
Senior National Team
On March 5, 2021, Torres was called up to the Uruguay senior national team for the first time. He made his official debut on June 3, 2021, in a World Cup qualifier game against Paraguay.
In June 2021, Torres was also part of the squad for the 2021 Copa América. He played in all five games as a substitute. Uruguay reached the quarter-finals.
In November 2022, Torres was chosen for Uruguay's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He was a substitute in all three games, but Uruguay did not make it past the group stage.
On June 20, 2023, Torres scored his first goal for the senior national team. It was in a friendly game against Cuba, which Uruguay won 2–0. He continues to be called up for World Cup qualifying matches.
