Cyle Christopher Larin (born April 17, 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player. He plays as a striker or a left winger. He currently plays for La Liga club Mallorca. He also plays for the Canada national team.
Cyle started playing college soccer for the UConn Huskies. He was the very first player chosen in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He joined Orlando City. In his first season, he scored 17 goals in 27 games. This broke the record for most goals by a new player. He also won the MLS Rookie of the Year Award. He played 89 games for Orlando, scoring 44 goals.
In January 2018, he moved to Beşiktaş in Turkey. There, he helped his team win the Süper Lig, Turkish Cup, and Turkish Super Cup in 2021. He continued his career in Europe. He played for Zulte Waregem and Club Brugge in Belgium. He also played for Real Valladolid and Mallorca in Spain's La Liga.
Cyle Larin has been a full international player for Canada since 2014. He played for his country in the CONCACAF Gold Cup four times. In 2021, his team reached the semi-finals. He was the top scorer in the CONCACAF region for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. He scored 13 goals. Canada qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1986.

Early Life and Youth Soccer
Cyle Larin was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. His family is from Jamaica. He went to St. Edmund Campion Secondary School. He was the top goal scorer for his school for three years.
In 2007, when he was 11, Cyle joined a private soccer academy. It was called Sigma FC. He trained there until 2013. While at Sigma FC, Cyle traveled to Europe. He trained with big clubs like Werder Bremen, Hertha Berlin, and Wolfsburg in Germany. He also trained with Racing Genk and Club Brugge in Belgium.
His coach at Sigma FC, Bobby Smyrniotis, praised Cyle. He said Cyle was a rare player in Canada. He was a complete and modern striker. He could play with both feet and score from anywhere.
College Soccer Career
In 2013, Cyle Larin decided to play for the University of Connecticut. He played for the Huskies. In his first year, he scored 14 goals in 23 games. This was one of the highest goal totals in the entire NCAA.
His great performance earned him many awards. He was named Freshman of the Year by TopDrawerSoccer.com. He was also named to the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team. Experts thought he was one of the best young players.
In 2014, during the college break, Larin played for Sigma FC again. They joined a new league called League1 Ontario. Cyle scored four goals in five games for Sigma. His team reached the League 1 Ontario Cup final. They lost 1–2 to Vaughan Azzurri.
After this, many people thought Cyle would be the top pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. European clubs were also interested in him. Orlando City SC had the first pick in that draft.

Starting Strong in 2015
In January 2015, Cyle Larin signed a special contract with Major League Soccer. This was called a Generation Adidas contract. He chose this even though European clubs, including one from the English Premier League, wanted him.
On January 8, 2015, it was official. Cyle Larin was the first player chosen in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. He was picked by Orlando City SC. He became the first Canadian player ever to be chosen first in the MLS SuperDraft.
Cyle played his first game for Orlando City on March 21, 2015. He came on as a substitute. He scored his first professional goal on April 12. It was in a 2–0 win against the Portland Timbers.
On July 26, he scored his first professional hat-trick (three goals in one game). This was against New York City FC. He was only the 8th new player to score three goals in an MLS match. He was also the third Canadian to score a hat-trick. He was named MLS Player of the Week for his amazing performance.
In Orlando's next game, Cyle scored two more goals. This tied the rookie record for goals. On September 25, he scored his second hat-trick of the season. This broke the rookie goal-scoring record. He finished his first season with 17 goals in 27 games. In November, he won the 2015 MLS Rookie of the Year Award.
2016 Season Highlights
Orlando started the new season on March 6. Cyle Larin scored a goal and helped with another. This helped his team get a 2–2 draw. He scored in the first three games of the season.
Cyle was chosen for the 2016 MLS All-Star Game. He played in the game against England's Arsenal.
2017 Season and European Dreams
Cyle scored the first three goals for Orlando in the 2017 season. He scored two goals in one game against Philadelphia. He scored 12 goals in the 2017 season. After this, he wanted to move to Europe. His last game with Orlando City was a friendly match. He scored two goals in that game.
Beşiktaş (Turkey)
In January 2018, Cyle Larin moved to Beşiktaş in Turkey. The transfer fee was not made public. On April 7, Cyle scored in his first game for Beşiktaş. It was a 5–1 win. In the last game of the season, on May 19, he scored a hat-trick.
On August 2, he scored three goals in a European game. This was in the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League. He became the second player for Beşiktaş to score a hat-trick in a European competition.
After a tough 2018–19 season, Larin was loaned to a Belgian club. He joined Zulte Waregem in July 2019. He scored seven goals in his season there. This included two goals in a 6–0 win.
He returned to Beşiktaş. On November 29, 2020, he was sent off in a game. On January 6, he scored four goals in a 6–0 win. He did it again on May 1, scoring four goals in a 7–0 win. He ended the season as a league champion. He was also the joint-second top scorer with 19 goals.
Club Brugge (Belgium)
On July 4, 2022, Cyle Larin signed a three-year deal. He joined Club Brugge in Belgium. He played his first game on July 17. It was in the 2022 Belgian Super Cup. His team won 1–0. Cyle scored his first goal on September 10.
Real Valladolid (Spain)
In January 2023, Larin was loaned to La Liga team Valladolid. He made his debut on January 29. He scored the only goal in a 1–0 win. He scored again on February 5. He scored eight goals and helped with three in 19 games. His team was moved down to a lower league. His loan move became permanent.
RCD Mallorca (Spain)
On August 3, 2023, Larin was sold to another La Liga club. He joined RCD Mallorca on a five-year contract. The fee was about €8 million. In his first season, he scored his first league goal on December 16. He scored his second league goal in a 1–1 draw. He also scored four goals in the Copa del Rey (a cup competition). This included a winning goal in extra time. He played in the final, but his team lost on penalties.
International Career for Canada
After his first year at the University of Connecticut, Cyle Larin was called up. The Canada national team manager, Benito Floro, invited him to a training camp. This was in January 2014. It was Cyle's first time being called up for any national team.
In May 2014, Larin was part of the senior team again. He played in friendly matches against Bulgaria and Moldova. He made his senior international debut against Bulgaria. He came on as a substitute.

Cyle was named to Canada's 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship team. He played his first tournament game on January 10. Canada won 3–1. He returned to the senior team in March. He scored his first goal for Canada in a 3–0 win against Puerto Rico.
In June, Larin scored in both games against Dominica. This was for the World Cup qualification. Larin played in all three of Canada's games in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. On November 13, he scored the only goal to beat Honduras.
He was chosen for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup team on May 30, 2019.
On March 25, 2021, Larin scored his first hat-trick for Canada. It was in a 5–1 win against Bermuda. This was Canada's first game for 2022 World Cup qualifying. He was called up for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup on July 1. He scored in the opening game. He scored two goals in a win against Haiti. This helped Canada reach the semi-finals.
Larin tied Dwayne De Rosario's record for most goals for Canada (22). He did this on November 16, 2021. He scored twice in a 2–1 win against Mexico. Canada had not beaten Mexico in 21 years. On January 30, 2022, he scored the first goal in a 2–0 win against the United States. This made him the all-time top goalscorer for Canada.
On March 27, he scored in a 4–0 win against Jamaica. This meant Canada qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 1986. He scored 13 goals in the qualification games. This was the most in the CONCACAF region. In November 2022, Larin was part of the 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
In June 2023, Larin was called up for the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals. In June 2024, Larin was named to Canada's team for the 2024 Copa América.

Cyle Larin has a U.S. green card. This means he is considered a local player for MLS teams.
In August 2021, Cyle Larin became a co-owner of a Canadian club. It is called Simcoe County Rovers FC. They play in League1 Ontario.
