Cyle Christopher Larin (born April 17, 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player. He plays as a striker or a left winger. Currently, he plays for La Liga club Mallorca and the Canada national team.
Larin started his professional career after playing college soccer for the UConn Huskies. He was the very first player chosen in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, joining Orlando City. In his first season in Major League Soccer (MLS), he set a new record for most goals by a rookie. He scored 17 goals in 27 games and won the MLS Rookie of the Year Award. He played 89 games and scored 44 goals for Orlando.
In January 2018, Larin moved to Beşiktaş in Turkey. There, he helped his team win the Süper Lig, Turkish Cup, and Turkish Super Cup in 2021. He also played for other European clubs like Zulte Waregem and Club Brugge in Belgium. Later, he joined Real Valladolid and Mallorca in Spain's La Liga.
Larin has been a key player for the Canada national team since 2014. He has played in several CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments. He was the top scorer with 13 goals in the CONCACAF section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification. This helped Canada qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986.

Early Life and Youth Soccer
Cyle Larin was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. His family is from Jamaica. He went to St. Edmund Campion Secondary School. There, he was the best goal scorer for three years.
In 2007, when he was 11, Larin joined a private soccer academy called Sigma FC. This academy was part of the Ontario Soccer League. He trained there until 2013. During his time at Sigma FC, Larin traveled to Europe. He trained with famous clubs like Werder Bremen, Hertha Berlin, and Wolfsburg in Germany. He also trained with Racing Genk and Club Brugge in Belgium.
College Soccer Career
In 2013, Larin decided to play soccer for the University of Connecticut. He played for the Huskies. In his first year, he scored 14 goals in 23 games. This was one of the highest goal totals in the entire NCAA for that season.
Because of his great performance, he received many awards. He was named Freshman of the Year by TopDrawerSoccer.com. He was also chosen for the American Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team. In 2014, Larin was considered one of the best college players.
During the college break in 2014, Larin played for Sigma FC again. They joined a new league called League1 Ontario. Larin scored four goals in five games for Sigma. His team reached the League 1 Ontario Cup final but lost. After his college sophomore season, Larin was expected to be the top pick in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. Many European clubs were also interested in him.

Orlando City SC
Starting Strong in MLS
In January 2015, Cyle Larin agreed to sign a special contract with Major League Soccer (MLS). This was even though European clubs, including one from the English Premier League, wanted him. On January 8, 2015, it was official: Larin signed a Generation Adidas contract.
At the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Orlando City SC chose Larin as the first overall pick. This made him the first Canadian player ever to be chosen first in the MLS SuperDraft.
Larin played his first game for Orlando City on March 21, 2015. He came into the game as a substitute. He scored his first professional goal on April 12, helping his team win 2–0 against the Portland Timbers. He also scored in his first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game.
On July 26, he scored his first three goals in an MLS game against New York City FC. This was called a "hat-trick." Larin became only the 8th rookie to score three goals in an MLS match. He was also the third Canadian to score a hat-trick in a game. For this amazing effort, he was named MLS Player of the Week.
In the next game, Larin scored two more goals. This tied him with another player for the rookie record of eleven goals. On September 25, he scored his second hat-trick of the season. This broke the rookie goal-scoring record. He finished his first season with 17 goals in 27 games. In November, Larin won the 2015 MLS Rookie of the Year Award.
Continued Success in Orlando
Orlando City started the 2016 season at home. Larin scored a goal and helped set up another in a 2–2 draw. He scored in the team's first three games of the season. He also won the "Goal of the Week" award twice that season for his impressive goals.
Larin was chosen to play in the 2016 MLS All-Star Game. He played against the famous English club Arsenal.
In the 2017 season, Larin scored the first three goals for Orlando. He scored two goals in one game against Philadelphia. He finished the 2017 season with 12 goals. Larin then wanted to move to Europe to play soccer. His last game with Orlando City was a friendly match against Puerto Rico. He scored two goals in that game.
Beşiktaş J.K.
In January 2018, Larin moved to Beşiktaş in Turkey. He scored in his first game for Beşiktaş on April 7. It was a 5–1 home win. In the last game of that season, on May 19, he scored another hat-trick.
On August 2, Larin scored three goals in a European game. This was in the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League against B36 Torshavn. He became the second player in Beşiktaş history to score a hat-trick in a European competition.
After a challenging 2018–19 season, Larin was loaned to Belgian club Zulte Waregem in July 2019. He scored seven goals during his season there. This included two goals in a big 6–0 win.
When he returned to Beşiktaş, Larin continued to score. On January 6, 2021, he scored four goals in a 6–0 win. He did this again on May 1, scoring four goals in a 7–0 win. He finished the season as a league champion. He was also one of the top goal scorers in the league with 19 goals.
Club Brugge KV
On July 4, 2022, Larin signed a three-year contract with Club Brugge in Belgium. He played his first game on July 17 in the 2022 Belgian Super Cup. Brugge won that game 1–0. Larin scored his first goal for the club on September 10.
Real Valladolid
In January 2023, Larin was loaned to La Liga team Valladolid in Spain. He made a big impact in his first game on January 29. He scored the only goal in a 1–0 win. He scored again on February 5 in another 1–0 victory. Larin scored eight goals and made three assists in 19 games. Even though his club was relegated, Valladolid decided to buy him permanently for €1.5 million.
RCD Mallorca
On August 3, 2023, Larin was sold to another La Liga club, RCD Mallorca. He signed a five-year contract for about €8 million. In his first season, he scored his first league goal on December 16, 2023, which was the only goal in a win against Sevilla. He also scored important goals in the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup). He scored a winning goal in the last minute of extra time against Tenerife. He played in the final of the cup, where his team lost on penalties.
International Career with Canada
After his great first year at the University of Connecticut, Cyle Larin was called to train with the Canada national team in January 2014. This was his first time being called up for any national team. In May 2014, he was part of the team for friendly matches. He made his senior international debut against Bulgaria.

Larin was also part of Canada's 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship team in January 2015. He scored his first goal for the senior Canada team in March 2015. It was in a 3–0 win against Puerto Rico.
In June, Larin scored in both games as Canada won 6–0 against Dominica in the World Cup qualifiers. He played in all three of Canada's games in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. On November 13, he scored the only goal in a win against Honduras in a World Cup qualifying match.
Larin was named to the team for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup on May 30, 2019.
On March 25, 2021, Larin scored his first hat-trick for Canada. It was in a 5–1 win against Bermuda in a World Cup qualifying game. He was called up for the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup on July 1. He scored important goals in that tournament, helping Canada reach the semi-finals.
Larin tied the record for most goals for Canada (22) on November 16, 2021. He scored twice in a 2–1 home win against Mexico in World Cup qualifying. This was a big win, as Canada had not beaten Mexico in 21 years. On January 30, 2022, he scored the first goal in a 2–0 win against the United States. This goal made him the all-time top goalscorer for Canada.
On March 27, 2022, he scored in a 4–0 win against Jamaica. This win meant Canada qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1986. He finished the qualification games with 13 goals. This was the most in the CONCACAF region. In November 2022, Larin was part of the 26-player squad for the World Cup.
In June 2023, Larin was called up for the Canadian team playing in the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League Finals. In June 2024, Larin was also named to Canada's team for the 2024 Copa América.

Cyle Larin has a U.S. green card. This means he is considered a local player for MLS teams.
