Moving Earth! The Fairweather Fault
The Fairweather Range sits on an active fault line called the Fairweather Fault. A fault is like a giant crack in the Earth's crust. This fault is a "transform fault." This means two huge pieces of the Earth's crust, called tectonic plates, are sliding past each other.
In this area, the Pacific Plate and the North American Plate are slowly moving. This movement can sometimes cause earthquakes. It shows how the Earth's surface is always changing!
Amazing Views
