The Town of Fenner is located in the north-central part of Madison County. It is found just east of Cazenovia Lake. Fenner is also known for its large wind turbines, which help create clean energy.

History of Fenner

Early Settlement and Naming

People first started settling in the Fenner area around 1795. The town itself was officially created in 1823. It was formed from parts of two other towns, Cazenovia and Smithfield.

Fenner was named after Governor Fenner, who was a governor of Rhode Island. This shows a connection to other parts of the United States.

Historic Buildings

One important historical building in the town is the Fenner Baptist Church. This church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. This means it is recognized as a special place worth preserving.
