Fernando Galván Reula was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, on July 24, 1957. He is a very smart person who studies books and literature. His Education and Career
Fernando Galván Reula studied English at the University of La Laguna in Tenerife. He earned his first degree in 1979 and his PhD in 1981. In 1990, he became a Professor of English Language and Literature there.
Later, in 1994, he moved to the University of Alcalá. He became a Professor of English Literature. From 2010 to 2018, he was the rector, or president, of this university.

Mr. Galván Reula is an expert in medieval English literature. This means he knows a lot about old English stories and poems. He has also translated many famous English books into Spanish. These books are from different times in English literature. He has also written about modern stories in English.
He is part of the team that checks articles for more than twenty international journals about English studies. He also helped 24 students get their PhDs in English studies between 1988 and 2012.
His Time Abroad
In 1993 and 1994, he was a visiting scholar at Harvard University. This means he visited to study and share ideas. In 1994, he joined the International Association of University Professors of English. In 2003, he became a special member of The English Association in the UK.
During 2009 and 2010, he was a member of the English department at the University of Oxford. In October 2009, he became a visiting fellow at Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

Fernando Galván Reula has held many important jobs in universities around the world. He was on the boards of the European Association for American Studies (1993–1999) and the Spanish Society for General and Comparative Literature (1995–2006).
He was also the president of the Spanish Association of Anglo-American Studies (1996–2002). From 2007 to 2013, he was the president of the European Society for the Study of English. He was also chosen to be the secretary general of the International Association of University Presidents.

Fernando Galván Reula has edited and translated many classic English books into Spanish. These include works by famous writers like Philip Sidney, John Milton, Daniel Defoe, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, and George Orwell.
He has also written books that compare literature and culture from English-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries. Besides his books on medieval English literature, he has written about English novelists from the 1800s and 1900s. He has also edited collections of essays on topics like Mary Wollstonecraft and magical realism. He has written over a hundred articles and book chapters about modern English poets and writers.
