Filisur is a charming village located in the Alps mountains of Switzerland. It used to be its own municipality, but on January 1, 2018, it joined with Bergün/Bravuogn to form the new municipality of Bergün Filisur. Filisur is found in the Albula Region of the Graubünden canton. The village is built on a hillside, offering beautiful views. It's where two rivers, the Albula/Alvra and the Landwasser, meet.

History of Filisur
Filisur has a long history! The village was first mentioned in official records way back in 1262. Back then, it was called villa Fallisour.
Geography and Landscape
Filisur covers an area of about 44.6 square kilometers (about 17.2 square miles). A large part of this area, almost half, is covered by forests. About 18% of the land is used for farming. The rest of the land includes buildings, roads, rivers, and mountains.
The village of Filisur is the main part of this area. There is also a small village nearby called Jenisberg. Jenisberg is located higher up in the mountains, at an elevation of about 1,504 meters (4,934 feet).
Population and People
Filisur has a population of around 350 people. A small part of the population, about 14%, are people from other countries. Over the last ten years, the number of people living in Filisur has grown a little bit.
Most people in Filisur speak German, which is the main language. Some people also speak Italian, and a smaller number speak Romansh.
Many adults in Filisur have completed higher education. This means they have gone to a university or a special college. The unemployment rate in Filisur is quite low, around 2%. This shows that most people who want to work can find jobs.

- Landwasser Viaduct: This is a famous railway bridge that is very tall and long. It was built in 1902 and is an amazing piece of engineering. Trains from the Rhaetian Railway cross this impressive bridge.
Getting Around Filisur
Filisur has its own railway station. It's located a short distance above the village center. This station is served by the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), which is a famous train line.
You can catch trains like the Glacier Express and the Bernina Express from Filisur. These trains travel between Chur and St. Moritz, offering amazing views of the Swiss Alps. Filisur is also the end of the train line that goes to Davos.
Besides trains, PostBus Switzerland also provides bus services through the village, helping people travel to nearby areas.
