Floresville is a city in Wilson County, Texas, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Wilson County. In 2020, about 7,203 people lived there. Floresville is also part of the larger San Antonio area.

Exploring Floresville's Location and Climate
Floresville covers an area of about 5.7 square miles (14.8 square kilometers), all of which is land. The city is located about 35 miles (56 km) southeast of downtown San Antonio.

The weather in Floresville usually has hot and humid summers. Winters are generally mild to cool. This type of weather is known as a humid subtropical climate.
Discovering Floresville's Past
Long ago, the Lipan Apache tribes lived in the Floresville area. After Europeans arrived, Spanish missions were set up.
Early Ranching and Missions
In the mid-1700s, a place called Mision de las Cabras, which means "the goat ranch," was built near Floresville. This was a ranch for Mission Espada. Native American and Spanish cowboys, called vaqueros, lived and worked there. They took care of large herds of animals. This ranch was an early example of the ranching industry in Texas.
How Floresville Got Its Name
The town of Floresville was named after the Flores de Abrego family. This family came from the Canary Islands. Don Francisco Flores de Abrego was an early settler in the area. His ranch was about six miles (10 km) northwest of where Floresville is today. Four of his sons helped Texas during the Texas Revolution in 1835–1836.
Important Settlers and Heroes
Erasmo Seguin was another important person who settled near Floresville. He bought a ranch called "Casa Blanca" in 1824. This ranch was very large, about 9,000 acres (36 square kilometers). Erasmo Seguin and his family lived there and helped the area grow.
His son, Juan Seguin, was a famous Texas military and political leader. Juan Seguin was a hero of the Texas Revolution. He later lived on his father's ranch near Floresville from 1848 to 1852. He built his own home nearby in 1852.
The 2015 Tornado Event
On October 30, 2015, an EF2 tornado hit Floresville. The tornado caused a lot of damage. It even threw a trailer onto the roof of a hotel. Floresville High School was badly damaged. The tornado then moved towards Sutherland Springs before it disappeared.

The Floresville Independent School District serves the city of Floresville. Students attend Floresville High School, where the sports teams are known as the Tigers.
Floresville on the Big Screen
Floresville has been a filming location for several movies and TV shows.
- The 1974 movie Sugarland Express, directed by Steven Spielberg, filmed some scenes in Floresville. In the movie, the town was called "Rodrigo."
- The 1975 drama film The Great Waldo Pepper also filmed parts of its story near Floresville. This movie starred Robert Redford as a pilot after World War I.
- The TV movie Thaddeus Rose and Eddie (1978), starring Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash, had scenes filmed in Floresville.
- The 1980 movie The Big Brawl, featuring Jackie Chan, filmed some parts in downtown Floresville.
- Floresville was also shown in the Netflix series about the singer Selena.
