Fowler is a small village in Clinton County, Michigan. In 2020, about 1,226 people lived there. The village is part of Dallas Township.

History of Fowler Village

Fowler was first created in 1857. It was originally called "Dallas." Robert Highman and E.A. Wales bought land along a new railroad line. The Detroit, Grand Haven, and Milwaukee railroad finished building its tracks through the area in 1857.

A few years later, the town wasn't growing much. So, it was moved about a tenth of a mile west to land owned by John N. Fowler. In 1869, the name was changed to "Fowler." The original area was quite swampy, which made it hard for the town to grow.

In 1885, Fowler officially became a village in Clinton County. This happened during a time when the lumber business was growing fast.

Fowler is still a small, rural community today. It helps meet the needs of local farms. It also serves as a nearby community for people who work in Lansing.
