Fremont Peak is a tall mountain in the San Francisco Peaks of northern Arizona. It is the third highest point in the entire state of Arizona. This peak is a part of the Kachina Peaks Wilderness area. It is also found within the Coconino National Forest.

The peak is part of the San Francisco volcanic field. This means it was formed by ancient volcanoes. Even though it's a volcano, it's considered extinct. This means it's not expected to erupt again.

Fremont Peak is located in Coconino County. It is a great spot to see amazing views. From the peak, you can look out over the southern part of Arizona.

Naming the Peak

Fremont Peak was named after a famous person. His name was John C. Frémont. He lived from 1813 to 1890.

John C. Frémont was a general during the American Civil War. After the war, he became the governor of the Arizona Territory. He served in this role from 1878 to 1882. The peak was named to honor his work and contributions.
