How Much Water Flows in the Fresquel?

The average amount of water flowing through the Fresquel river each year is called its 'discharge'. At Carcassonne in the Aude department, the river's average discharge is 5.18 m3/s (183 cu ft/s). This means about 5.18 cubic meters of water pass by every second.

Where the Fresquel River Flows

The Fresquel river begins in the northwest part of the Aude department. It starts in a 'commune' (a small administrative area, like a town or village) called Baraigne. The river's starting point is about 265 m (869 ft) above sea level.

First, it flows west into the Haute-Garonne department. Then it turns north and goes back into the Aude department near Seuil de Naurouze. From there, it flows east. Finally, the Fresquel joins the Aude river in Carcassonne. This meeting point is about 90 m (295 ft) above sea level.

Towns and Villages Along the Fresquel

The Fresquel river flows through one region, Occitanie, and two departments. It passes through 24 different 'communes' (towns or villages). Some of these include:
