History of Frisco
Frisco was started in 1873 by Henry Recen. It grew because of the "Colorado Silver Boom," when lots of silver was found. The town officially became a city on December 3, 1880.
The town's name, Frisco, does not come from San Francisco, California. Instead, it was named after a railroad company called the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway. People hoped that naming the town after the railway would make the train line come to Frisco.
Where is Frisco Located?
Frisco is located in the mountains of Colorado. It covers about 1.777 square miles (4.602 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, but a small part is water.
The town sits along the edge of Lake Dillon. This lake is actually a reservoir that was built between 1961 and 1963. The original town of Dillon is now covered by the lake.
