Fujimi (which means 富士見市 in Japanese) is a city in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It's a cool place to learn about! As of January 2021, about 112,211 people lived here in 53,051 homes. Geography and Climate
Fujimi is located in the southwestern part of Saitama Prefecture. It sits in the middle of the Kantō plain, which is a large flat area. The city is not very high up, with its land being about 8 to 21 meters above sea level.
Fujimi is about 10 kilometers away from Saitama, which is the capital city of the prefecture. It's also about 30 kilometers from downtown Tokyo, a very famous city.
The city has two main parts:
- The northeastern part is a lowland area. Here you'll find the Arakawa and Shingashi Rivers.
- The southwestern part is higher up, part of the Musashino Plateau. Most of the city's buildings and homes are in this southwestern area.
Fujimi is about 7.0 kilometers wide from east to west and 6.8 kilometers long from north to south.

History of Fujimi
The area where Fujimi is today was once part of an old region called Musashi Province.
- On April 1, 1889, two villages, Tsuruse and Nanbata, were created.
- On September 30, 1956, these two villages joined with another village called Mizutani. Together, they formed the new village of Fujimi.
- In the 1960s and 1970s, many new homes and neighborhoods were built. This caused the population to grow very fast.
- Because of this growth, Fujimi became a town on April 1, 1964.
- Then, it officially became a city on April 10, 1972.
