Gallt y Wenallt is a mountain peak located in Snowdonia National Park in north Wales. It is considered a smaller peak, or 'subsidiary summit', of the larger mountain called Y Lliwedd. This peak sits at the very end of Y Lliwedd's northern ridge.
About Gallt y Wenallt
The northern side of Gallt y Wenallt is famous for having one of the longest slopes in all of Snowdonia. This slope stretches for almost 2,000 feet (about 610 meters) from top to bottom.
The Snowdon Horseshoe
Gallt y Wenallt is also known as the final part of a famous mountain route called the Snowdon Horseshoe. This route is a challenging circular walk that takes hikers over several peaks around Yr Wyddfa, the highest mountain in Wales. For people who want to complete the entire Horseshoe route, Gallt y Wenallt is the very last peak they conquer.
Summit Views
The top of Gallt y Wenallt is covered in grass and has a small pile of stones, called a cairn, marking the highest point. On a clear day, the view from the summit is truly amazing. You can look down into Llyn Gwynant, a beautiful lake, and this view is thought to be one of the best in all of Snowdonia.

Gallt y Wenallt is also the resting place of Emrys Nye Hughes. He was a well-known oil businessman and sailor.
