The Nintendo GameCube is a home video game console created by Nintendo. It was Nintendo's fourth main console. Before the GameCube, Nintendo made the Nintendo 64. After it came the Wii.

The Nintendo GameCube was the first Nintendo console to use discs to store games. Unlike other consoles at the time, the GameCube used small discs. These were smaller than regular DVDs.

The GameCube also brought many new features. It was the first Nintendo console to officially support playing games online. It could also connect to the Game Boy Advance. This allowed special features in some games.

The console first came out in Japan on September 14, 2001. It was released in North America on November 18, 2001. Europe got it on May 3, 2002, and Australia on May 17, 2002. Nintendo sold over 21 million GameCube consoles around the world.

GameCube Controller Features

The GameCube's controllers had two special sticks called analog joysticks. In many games, one stick helped you move your character. The other stick often controlled the camera view.

Besides the joysticks, the controller had a directional pad (D-pad). It also had eight buttons: A, B, Y, X, L, R, Z, and Start. These buttons let you do different actions in games.

Wireless WaveBird Controller

Nintendo later made a wireless version of the controller. It was called the WaveBird. This controller did not need wires to connect to the console. It used radio signals instead. The WaveBird ran on regular AA batteries.
