History of Geneva
Early Beginnings
Geneva has had a post office since 1855, which means people have been living and sending mail from there for a long time! The city was officially planned and mapped out, or platted, in 1857. It was given its name after Geneva, New York, a city much further east.
Famous People from Geneva
Geneva is the birthplace of Lawrence B. Anderson (1906-1994). He was a very important architect and teacher. He even led the architecture school at the famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Geneva is a small city in terms of its size. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 0.53 square miles (1.37 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with only a tiny bit being water.
