George Newbern, born on December 30, 1964, is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Charlie in the TV show Scandal from 2012 to 2018. He also played Bryan MacKenzie in the movie Father of the Bride (1991) and its follow-up movies, Father of the Bride Part II (1995) and Father of the Bride Part 3 (ish) (2020).
You might also remember him as Danny (The Yeti) from the TV show Friends. He also had a regular role as Payne in Designing Women. George Newbern is also famous for being the voice of Superman in many DC cartoons and video games. He has also voiced Sephiroth in the Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts video game series.

Early Life and Beginnings
George Newbern grew up in North Little Rock, Arkansas. His mother, Betty, was a Spanish teacher, and his father, David, was a doctor who specialized in X-rays. George has two brothers, Gordon and John, and one sister, Murry.
He started acting at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock. His first role was playing the younger brother in a play called Life with Father. This first acting experience made him want to do more. Soon, he started getting roles in movies.
Acting Career Highlights
George Newbern's first main role in a film was in 1987. It was a TV movie called Double Switch. This movie was a new version of the classic story The Prince and the Pauper. It was shown as part of the Wonderful World of Disney TV series.
TV Shows and Movies
From 1986 to 1992, Newbern had a recurring role on the TV show Designing Women. He played Payne McIlroy, the son of a character named Julia Sugarbaker. Since then, he has appeared as a guest star in many TV shows. These include Friends, CSI, Criminal Minds, and Private Practice.
He also had a regular role for several seasons in the show Scandal. In this show, he played a former CIA agent. In 2009, he starred in the Disney Channel movie Dadnapped. He played Neal Morris, the father of Melissa Morris. He also played astronaut Stu Roosa in the HBO mini-series From The Earth To The Moon.
Some of his other movie roles include Adventures in Babysitting (1987) and Switching Channels (1988). He also appeared in Locker 13 in 2009.

George Newbern is also a very talented voice actor. He is well-known for being the voice of Clark Kent/Superman. He voiced Superman in the Justice League cartoon series. He also voiced Superman in Static Shock and Justice League Unlimited. He took over the role from another actor, Tim Daly.
He has continued to voice Superman in other shows and movies. These include The Batman, Superman vs. The Elite, and Justice League vs. the Fatal Five. He also voices Superman in the video games Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2. George Newbern has voiced Superman for a longer time than any other actor in both live-action and animated projects.
Newbern also lent his voice to the cartoon series The Pirates of Dark Water. He has done many voiceovers for video games. In 2003, he voiced Mevyn Nooj in Final Fantasy X-2. He is also famous for voicing Sephiroth. He voiced this character in the Final Fantasy series and the Kingdom Hearts series.
His voice work as Nooj in Final Fantasy X-2 impressed the game creators. This led them to choose him to voice Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts II. He has continued to voice Sephiroth in other games and movies. These include Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. He also voiced Sephiroth in the Dissidia: Final Fantasy games.
George Newbern has also narrated almost 500 audiobooks.
Personal Life
George Newbern met actress Marietta DePrima in the mid-1980s. They both went to Northwestern University. They got married in 1990 and have three children together.
