Gilbert is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. In 2020, about 1,687 people lived there. Two main roads, State Highway 37 and State Highway 135, help people get around Gilbert.
Gilbert is part of the "Quad Cities" area. The other cities in this group are Virginia, Eveleth, and Mountain Iron. The city's name might come from Giles Gilbert, who explored a mine in the 1890s. Another possibility is that it was named after E. A. Gilbert, a businessman from Duluth.
