Giovanni Allevi (Italian pronunciation: [dʒoˈvanni alˈlɛːvi]; born 9 April 1969) is a famous Italian pianist and composer. You might know his song "O Generosa," which is the theme music for Italy's top football league, Serie A.

About Giovanni Allevi

Early Life and Education

Giovanni Allevi studied music at a high level. He earned top degrees in piano from the "F. Morlacchi" conservatory in Perugia. He also got a degree in composition from the Milan Conservatory.

He also studied philosophy at university, earning a degree with honors. His thesis was about "The Void in Contemporary Physics." He also took special advanced classes in Arezzo.

In 1991, Allevi served in the Italian Army Music Band. The band's leader noticed his amazing piano skills. Allevi became the piano soloist for the band. He played famous pieces like Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. He also played the Warsaw Concerto by Richard Addinsell during a tour in Italy.

After his military service, Allevi started playing his own piano music in concerts. He also learned about "Bio-music and music therapy." This helped him understand how music can free people's minds. It can also bring back memories, images, and feelings.

In 1996, he wrote music for the play The Trojan Women by Euripides. This play was shown at an international festival in Siracusa. His music won a special award for being the "best scene music."

In 1997, he won an international competition for young musicians in Turin. In 2017, he received the America Award from the Italy-USA Foundation.

Meeting Saturnino and Jovanotti

Giovanni Allevi decided to move to Milan. He wanted to put his piano music onto a CD. Saturnino, a famous musician, helped him with this idea.

In 1997, Lorenzo Cherubini, also known as Jovanotti, heard Allevi's music. Jovanotti decided to release Allevi's first album, 13 Dita (13 Fingers). Saturnino produced this album.

Thanks to Saturnino and Jovanotti, Allevi started playing for large audiences at rock concerts. He opened for Jovanotti's concerts during the L'Albero tour. He played songs from his album 13 Dita alone on his piano.

In 1998, Allevi created the soundtrack for a short film called Venceremos. This film won an award at the Sundance Film Festival in the United States. Allevi also provided music for the opening ceremony of the 2009 World Aquatics Championships in Rome.
