The Glasgow North constituency covers several parts of Glasgow. These areas are called wards. They include Firhill, Hillhead, Hyndland, Kelvindale, Maryhill, North Kelvin, Partick, Summerston, Woodlands, and Wyndford.

Glasgow North is one of seven constituencies in the Glasgow City area. All these constituencies are completely within the city boundaries.

Before 2005, Glasgow had different constituency maps. The Glasgow North area was created in 2005. It took parts from older constituencies like Glasgow Maryhill, Glasgow Kelvin, and Glasgow Anniesland. The areas used for the Scottish Parliament elections still use the older boundaries.

This constituency includes Glasgow University. It also stretches out to areas like Kelvindale and the large Summerston housing area. A big part of the constituency used to be the Maryhill area, which was mainly a working-class community. Glasgow North also includes more middle-class areas like Hillhead, Hyndland, and Kelvindale.
