Glass City Con X Midwest Media Expo was a special two-day event. It brought together two different conventions: Glass City Con and Midwest Media Expo. This big event happened in July 2018 at the SeaGate Convention Centre in Toledo, Ohio. It was a "multi-genre" convention, meaning it celebrated many types of fun things like anime, video games, and more! Sadly, this combined event only happened once. Its future is currently unknown.

Glass City Con: A Look Back

Glass City Con was an exciting yearly event. It was also known as GarasuNoShiCon. In Japanese, "GarasuNoShiCon" means "Glass City Convention." This convention focused on anime, which are Japanese animated shows. It usually happened in July in Toledo, Ohio.

Glass City Con offered many fun activities. You could watch anime shows, explore the artist alley, and see amazing costumes in the cosplay competition. There were also card games, tabletop games, and video games. Fans could even try LARP, which means "live action role playing." The convention also had a rave (a dance party), vendors selling cool stuff, and workshops to learn new skills.

The Start of Glass City Con

Glass City Con began in 2009. It was started by Aaron Auzins and Chris Zasada. Students from different clubs helped organize it. These clubs included Gamers United and the Japanese Club.

In its early years (2010 and 2011), Glass City Con was free to attend! It was held at Owens Community College. The convention grew bigger over time. In 2014, it moved to the larger SeaGate Convention Centre. Eventually, Glass City Con combined with Midwest Media Expo. This created the Glass City Con X Midwest Media Expo event.

Midwest Media Expo offered many cool things to do. There was an artist alley and an exhibitor hall. You could attend a formal ball or enjoy musical events. Gaming was a big part of M2X, with board games, card games, tabletop games, and video games. The video game area was even open 24 hours a day!
