Glenwood Razeem Coffee Jr. (born May 1, 1987) is a former American football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). Glen was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 NFL draft. He played one season before deciding to retire from football in 2010. Later, he served in the United States Army from 2013 to 2017. Glen Coffee also played college football for the University of Alabama.

Freshman Season (2005)
In his first year at Alabama, Glen played in all twelve games. He was a backup player. In one game against South Carolina, he ran for 75 yards. He scored his first college touchdown with a 9-yard catch. Overall, he rushed for 179 yards and caught eight passes for 91 yards that season.
Redshirt Year and Return (2007)
Glen took a "redshirt" year in 2006. This means he practiced with the team but did not play in games. He returned in 2007 under a new coach, Nick Saban. He shared the starting running back spot. He had his first game with over 100 rushing yards against Houston. In that game, he ran for 121 yards. He finished the 2007 season with 545 rushing yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 18 passes for 142 yards.
Star Season (2008)
The 2008 season was Glen's best. He started all 14 games. He still shared playing time with other running backs. He had an amazing game against Arkansas, running for 162 yards and two touchdowns. One run was for 87 yards, his longest ever! In another game against Kentucky, he ran for 218 yards. This was the most by an Alabama running back since 1996.
Glen helped Alabama win many games. He ran for over 100 yards in several important matches. He finished the season with 1,383 rushing yards and ten touchdowns. He was named to the All-SEC first-team. After this great season, Glen decided to enter the 2009 NFL draft early.

Playing in the NFL
Glen Coffee was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 NFL draft. He was the 74th player picked overall. He mostly played as a backup to the main running back, Frank Gore. In his one season, Glen had 83 carries for 226 rushing yards. He also scored one rushing touchdown in 14 games. He started two of those games.
Retirement and Comeback
In August 2010, Glen suddenly announced his retirement from football. He said his heart was not in the game anymore. He felt that God wanted him to follow a different path. He planned to go back to the University of Alabama to finish his degree.
Years later, on April 21, 2017, Glen Coffee was officially allowed to play in the NFL again. The San Francisco 49ers still had his player rights, but they released him. Glen then announced he wanted to play in a league called The Spring League. He also returned to the University of Alabama to finish his college degree. He even worked as an assistant coach for the running backs under Coach Nick Saban.
Life After Football: Army Service
In February 2013, Glen Coffee joined the United States Army. He wanted to become a paratrooper. In June 2013, he graduated from United States Army Airborne School. He trained as a paratrooper and was assigned to the 6th Ranger Training Battalion. He reached the rank of Specialist (E-4). He served as an airborne infantryman.
Personal Life
Glen Coffee has a brother named Matt. Matt also played football as a fullback for the University of South Carolina. Glen also co-wrote a book with his father, Glen Coffee Sr. The book is called There’s More to Life than the Pursuit of Money.
