Pixel UI is a special look for Android that Google uses on its Pixel phones and tablets. It's also called Pixel Launcher.
Unlike older Nexus phones that used a basic Android look, Pixel phones have a slightly different design. The Pixel UI and its home screen launcher are only available on Pixel devices. However, some tech-savvy people have found ways to put the Pixel Launcher on other Android phones.
Over time, Google replaced many standard Android apps with its own Google apps, like Google Play Music and Google Chrome. By the time Android 4.4.x "KitKat" came out, most basic Android apps were replaced by Google's versions, including the photo gallery being replaced by Google Photos. The Google Now Launcher also became popular, making it easier to access Google Now.
When Google launched the Pixel phones, they also launched the Pixel Launcher and Pixel UI. Unlike the Google Now Launcher, the Pixel Launcher was only for Pixel phones. Pixel UI also offered special features like 24/7 online support directly from Google.
Pixel Camera
Pixel Camera (which used to be called Google Camera) is the camera app that comes with Pixel devices. This app has a simple camera interface but also many cool features. These include Night Vision (for low light), Super Res Zoom (for clearer zoomed-in photos), and Motion Photos (which capture short videos).
The app was first released on April 16, 2014, as Google Camera. It could be used by any phone until October 2023. Then, it was renamed Pixel Camera and removed from the Google Play Store for other phones. Many unofficial versions of the app have been made by fans. These versions allow non-Google phones to use Pixel Camera features or bring premium features to older Pixel models. However, these unofficial versions can sometimes have problems.
