What is Gordon Hill's History?

Gordon Hill grew up around an old house called Gordon House. This big house was built way back in the 1700s. It was named after an early person who lived there, Lord George Gordon. He was known for starting an event called the Gordon Riots.

Later, the house belonged to Sir Thomas Hallifax. He was a very important person, serving as the Lord Mayor of London. Gordon House was taken down around 1860. After that, the area was planned out for new homes. More houses were built quickly after 1909 when the railway line arrived.

The Gordon Hill area includes parts of different local sections called 'wards'. These are Highlands, Chase, and Town. The Highlands ward also covers parts of World's End and eastern Oakwood.
