Gulf Stream is a small town located in Palm Beach County, Florida, in the United States. It is part of the larger Miami metropolitan area in South Florida. In 2020, the town had a population of 954 people.

History of Gulf Stream

Gulf Stream was created in the 1920s. It was planned as a community built around the Gulf Stream County Club. The town gets its name from the Gulf Stream, which is a warm ocean current in the Atlantic Ocean. Gulf Stream officially became a town in 1925.

Geography of the Town

The Town of Gulf Stream is located at 26°29′25″N 80°3′40″W / 26.49028°N 80.06111°W / 26.49028; -80.06111. This is about 26.49 degrees North and 80.06 degrees West.

The United States Census Bureau reports that the town covers about 0.9 square miles (2.32 square kilometers) in total. Most of this area, about 0.8 square miles (2.03 square kilometers), is land. The remaining 0.1 square miles (0.29 square kilometers), or about 9.64%, is water.

Gulf Stream has a tropical climate. This is similar to the weather found in many parts of the Caribbean. It is one of the only places in the 48 connected states that has this type of climate. Specifically, it usually has a tropical savanna climate (called Aw in the Köppen climate classification). It is also very close to having a tropical monsoon climate (called Am).
