Hartley County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. In 2020, about 5,382 people lived there. The main town, or "county seat," is Channing. The county was officially started in 1891. It is named after two brothers, Oliver C. Hartley and Rufus K. Hartley. They were important lawyers and lawmakers in Texas a long time ago.
