History of Hartsburg
Hartsburg was named after an early settler. His name was Luther D. Hart.
Geography and Location
Hartsburg is located above the Missouri River bottom. It sits along Missouri Route A. The city of Marion in Cole County is directly west, across the Missouri River.
The community of Ashland is about six miles northeast of Hartsburg. It is located on U.S. Route 63. A stream called Hart Creek flows past the west side of the village.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Hartsburg covers a total area of about 0.56 square kilometers (0.21 square miles). All of this area is land.

The Katy Trail is a very long bike path. It stretches 240 miles across the state of Missouri. This trail runs right along the edge of the Missouri River floodplain, passing by Hartsburg.
Hartsburg also hosts a special event each year. It's called the Hartsburg Pumpkin Festival. This festival happens on the second Saturday and Sunday of October.
