Hauteville-Lompnes was a small town in eastern France. It was located in the Ain department. On January 1, 2019, it joined with other towns to form a new, bigger town called Plateau d'Hauteville.

History of the Town
The town of Hauteville-Lompnes was created in 1942. This happened when two smaller places, Hauteville and Lompnes, joined together. Later, in 1964, two more nearby towns, Lacoux and Longecombe, also became part of Hauteville-Lompnes.
The Félix Mangini Sanatorium
In 1899, a special hospital called the Sanatorium Félix Mangini was built here. It was started by Frédéric Dumarest. This hospital was made to help people who were sick with a lung disease called tuberculosis.

The Albarine river flows through the northern part of the area. It moves towards the southwest.

Interesting Features
Hauteville-Lompnes is well-known for its special marble. This marble has been used in many famous buildings around the world. For example, it was used to help build the Empire State Building in New York City. It was also used in the Kōkyo Imperial Palace in Tokyo.
A famous old building here is the castle d'Angeville. This castle has belonged to the d'Angeville family since 1657. A very important person from this family was Henriette d'Angeville. She was the second woman ever to climb Mont Blanc, a very tall mountain. A street in Hauteville is named after her to honor her achievement.
Today, the town is a popular place for visitors. In winter, people come for cross-country skiing and downhill skiing. In summer, there are many activities like walking, hiking, and fishing.
