Exploring Hawk's Tor
Hawk's Tor is located in Cornwall, about 7 miles (11 km) north-east of the town of Bodmin. It's part of the beautiful and wild area known as Bodmin Moor. A "tor" is a large, rocky hill that often has cool rock formations at its top.
What You Can Find There
The sides of Hawk's Tor are called Hawkstor Downs. This area is home to some interesting features. One of the most famous is the Stripple stones. This is an ancient stone circle, a mysterious ring of large stones placed long ago by people.
There's also a place called Hawkstor Pit. This spot is very important for nature. It's known as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This means it's a protected area because it has special plants and animals. Scientists study these areas to help protect nature.
Another Hawk's Tor
It can be a bit confusing, but there's another hill also named Hawk's Tor on Bodmin Moor. This other tor is a bit taller, at 329 metres (1,079 ft). It's located further east, close to the village of North Hill. So, make sure you know which Hawk's Tor you're looking for!
