Henry Howey Robson (born February 18, 1894 – died March 4, 1964) was a very brave English soldier. He received the Victoria Cross, which is the highest award for courage. This special medal is given to soldiers from Britain and Commonwealth countries. It honors those who show amazing bravery when facing the enemy.

A Hero in World War I

Henry Robson was only 20 years old when he served as a private. He was part of the Second Battalion of The Royal Scots (The Lothian Regiment). This was during World War I, a very big war that happened a long time ago.

His Amazing Bravery

On December 14, 1914, Henry Robson showed incredible courage. This happened near a place called Kemmel in Belgium. During an attack on a German position, he left his trench. There was very heavy enemy fire all around him. He bravely rescued a wounded non-commissioned officer (NCO).

Later, during another attack, he tried to help a second wounded man. He wanted to bring this man to safety, even though he was still under heavy fire. Henry was wounded almost right away, but he kept trying to help. He only stopped when he was wounded a second time. His actions saved lives and showed great bravery.

Where His Medal Is Today

Henry Robson's Victoria Cross medal is very important. You can see it displayed at the Royal Scots Museum. This museum is located inside the famous Edinburgh Castle in Scotland.

Life After the War

After the war, Henry Robson moved to Canada in 1923. He even sold his medals to pay for the trip! In Canada, he married Alice Maud Martin. In the 1930s, he worked in Toronto as a Sergeant-at-Arms for the Ontario Parliament. This meant he helped keep order in the parliament building. He retired in 1954 as an information clerk. Henry Robson passed away in 1964 at Sunnybrook Hospital.
