Henry Ian Cusick (born April 17, 1967) is an actor and director from Peru and Scotland. He is known for his work in TV shows, movies, and plays.
He is most famous for playing Desmond Hume in the TV series Lost. For this role, he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award. He also played Jesus in The Gospel of John. You might also know him as Stephen Finch in Scandal, Marcus Kane in The 100, Dr. Jonas Lear in The Passage, and Russell "Russ" Taylor in MacGyver.

Early Life and Education
Henry Ian Cusick was born in Trujillo, Peru. His mother, Esperanza Chávez, was Peruvian, and his father, Henry Joseph Cusick, was Scottish. When he was two years old, his family moved to Madrid, Spain. Later, they lived in Trinidad and Tobago for ten years, where he went to Presentation College, San Fernando.
At age fourteen, Cusick moved to Newton Mearns, a town near Glasgow in Scotland, with his family. He later studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. His first acting job was at the Citizens' Theatre. He also performed in many plays with the Strathclyde Theatre Group in Glasgow. He speaks both English and Spanish.
Acting Career
Cusick started his career acting in classical plays. He played important roles like Dorian Gray in The Picture of Dorian Gray and Hamlet in The Marovitz Hamlet. In 1995, he received an award for his strong performances in plays like Torquato Tasso and Oedipus.
Moving to TV and Film
After acting in TV shows like Casualty, he played Jesus Christ in the 2003 movie The Visual Bible: The Gospel of John.
His biggest role came in 2005 when he was chosen to play Desmond Hume in the TV series Lost. He started as a guest star in the second season and then became a main character for the rest of the show. He was even nominated for an Emmy Award for this role. Cusick met one of the show's producers, Carlton Cuse, through a friend, which helped him get the part.
Other Notable Roles
Cusick also appeared in two episodes of 24 and the 2007 movie Hitman. He starred in the movie Dead Like Me: Life After Death, which continued the story of the TV show Dead Like Me.
He was in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the ABC show Scandal. He also played Trent Marsh in Body of Proof and Marcus Kane in The 100, which started in 2014.
Directing and Other Projects
Besides acting, Cusick directed a short film called Dress. He filmed it in his hometown, Kailua, Hawaii. The film won awards at the HIFF and the Peace on Earth Film Festival.
In 2017, Cusick worked with a company called JamBios. He became the voice of Monty, a digital helper who asks questions to help people remember and share their memories.
Personal Life
Henry Ian Cusick is married to Annie Cusick Wood. They have three sons: Eli (born 1994), Lucas (born 1998), and Esau (born 2000).
