The main road in the area is the Hervey Range Developmental Road. It crosses the locality from the north-east to the west.

Hervey Range History

The mountain range and the area itself were named in 1861. Phillip Somers named them after Matthew Hervey. Matthew Hervey owned a large farm, called a pastoral station, named Dotswood. Phillip Somers and Matthew Hervey were partners in this farm. Somers was also part of an exploration trip led by Allan Cunningham.

The local Aboriginal people call the Hervey Range Barringha. This is also their name for a plant called the Western Silver Wattle.
