Heyburn is a city located in Minidoka County, Idaho, in the United States. In 2020, about 3,700 people lived there. This was an increase from 3,089 people in 2010. Heyburn is part of the larger Burley area.

The city was named after Weldon B. Heyburn. He was a U.S. senator who represented Idaho in the United States Senate from 1903 to 1912.

Heyburn is found on the southern edge of Minidoka County. The Snake River forms its southern border. This river also marks the line for Cassia County. The city of Burley is right next to Heyburn, to its south and west.

Major roads help people travel to and from Heyburn. Interstate 84 runs through the northern part of the city. You can get on or off at Exits 208 and 211. This interstate goes west to Twin Falls and southeast to Ogden, Utah. U.S. Route 30 also passes through Heyburn. Idaho State Highway 27 connects Heyburn to nearby towns like Burley and Paul.

The United States Census Bureau says that Heyburn covers about 2.7 square miles (6.88 square kilometers). A small part of this area, about 0.04 square miles (0.11 square kilometers), is water.

Heyburn's Growing Population

Heyburn has seen its population grow over the years. In 1920, only 292 people lived there. By 1950, the population had reached 539. The city continued to grow, reaching 1,637 people in 1970. In 2010, there were 3,089 residents. The most recent count in 2020 showed 3,700 people living in Heyburn.

The people living in Heyburn come from different backgrounds. Many residents identify as White. A significant number of people are also of Hispanic or Latino heritage. The city is home to families with children and people of all ages.

Heyburn's Local Economy

Heyburn's economy is closely linked to the nearby cities of Burley and Twin Falls. A big part of the local economy involves farming and distributing food.
