Hillbank is a friendly residential suburb located in the northern part of Adelaide, South Australia. It's part of the City of Playford area. It's a place where many families live, offering a mix of homes and green spaces.
A Look Back: Hillbank's History
Hillbank started as a planned area called "Hill Bank." This name was changed to Hillbank in 1966. Later, in 1987, more land was added to Hillbank. This included a place once known as Elizabeth Heights.
A cool part of Hillbank's past was its local "Drive In" theatre. Imagine watching movies from your car! This theatre opened on May 16, 1958. It was a popular spot for many years. It closed in the late 1980s. The land where it once stood is now a housing area called Burchwood Estate.
Jo Gapper Park: Views and Fun
Jo Gapper Park is a special outdoor area in Hillbank. It's located on the side of the Adelaide Hills. From here, you can see amazing views across the flat lands below.
The park has a lookout point. From this spot, you can see places like Munno Para, Elizabeth, Outer Harbor, Port Adelaide. You can also spot Parafield Airport. It's a great place to enjoy nature and the scenery.
