Hillsdale is a lively neighborhood in the southwest part of Portland, Oregon. It's a great place to live and visit in the United States. The heart of Hillsdale is its shopping and business area. You'll find many stores along SW Capitol Highway.

One of the most popular spots is the Hillsdale Farmer's Market. It's open on Sundays during summer. In winter, it opens every other Sunday. Hillsdale is also famous for being home to Oregon's very first brewpub. This was the McMenamins Hillsdale Brewery, which opened way back in 1985.

The Hillsdale Library: A Green Building

A very important building in Hillsdale is the Hillsdale Library. It first opened its doors in 1957. The library closed for a big renovation in 2001. It reopened on March 4, 2004, looking brand new!

After the remodel, the library earned a special award. It was named a Certified Gold LEED Building. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This means the building was designed to be very eco-friendly. It was the first LEED building in all of Portland! As of 2019, the Hillsdale Library is one of the busiest libraries in Multnomah County.

Hillsdale is surrounded by several other neighborhoods in Portland.

Oregon Route 10 is a main road that connects Hillsdale. It goes north to Downtown Portland. It also goes west to places like Raleigh Hills and Beaverton.

Hillsdale is also a central place for Portland's Jewish community.
