Hipólito "Poli" Rincón Povedano (born on April 28, 1957) is a Spanish former footballer. He played as a striker, which means he was a goal scorer.
Poli Rincón spent most of his 13-year career playing for two big Spanish clubs. These were Real Madrid and Real Betis. He played 239 games in La Liga, Spain's top football league, and scored 81 goals.
He also played 22 games for the Spanish national team. Rincón even represented Spain in the 1986 World Cup.

Club Career Highlights
Poli Rincón was born in Lavapiés, a neighborhood in Madrid, Spain. He started his football journey in the youth academy of Real Madrid.
Early Career and Loans
As a young player, Rincón was loaned out to other teams. One of these teams was CD Díter Zafra in a lower league. He later made his first team debut for Real Madrid on October 14, 1979. In that game, he scored two goals as a substitute. Even with this great start, he only played 16 games for Real Madrid's main team. This was between 1979 and 1981.
Success with Real Betis
In 1981, Rincón moved to Real Betis, a club in Andalusia. His second year there, the 1982–83 season, was amazing. He scored 20 league goals, which made him the top scorer in La Liga. This award is called the Pichichi Trophy. Even though he scored so many goals, his team finished 11th that year.
Overall, Rincón scored 93 goals for Real Betis in all competitions. He retired from football at the end of the 1988–89 season. He was 32 years old when he stopped playing.
After Retirement
After his playing career, Rincón stayed involved in football. In 2004, he worked as a director of football for Xerez CD. This club was a neighbor to Real Betis. He also became a sports commentator. He shared his football knowledge on radio stations like Cadena SER and Cadena COPE.

International Debut
His first game for Spain was on April 27, 1983. It was a qualifier for the UEFA Euro 1984 tournament. Spain played against the Republic of Ireland in Zaragoza. Rincón came into the game as a substitute and scored the final goal, making the score 2–0.
Historic Match Against Malta
One of his most famous games was on December 21, 1983. In this match, Spain played against Malta in Seville. Spain won the game by an incredible score of 12–1. Rincón scored four goals in this historic victory!
Even after this amazing performance, he was not chosen for the Euro 1984 finals. Two years later, he was part of the squad for the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. However, he did not play in any matches during that tournament.
