Where is Hodgson Vale?
Hodgson Vale is located about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) south of Toowoomba city. The main road, New England Highway, goes right through it. This highway connects Hodgson Vale to nearby places like Top Camp and Vale View.

A small waterway called Hodgson Creek starts nearby. It flows through Hodgson Vale towards the south-west. This creek eventually joins the Condamine River. The Condamine River is part of the much larger Murray-Darling basin river system.
A Look Back in Time
The name Hodgson Vale likely comes from Sir Arthur Hodgson. He was an important pioneer and a politician in Queensland. In 1840, he chose the Eton Vale pastoral run. This was one of the first large farming areas in what is now Queensland. The Eton Vale homestead was located near Hodgson Creek.
Early School Days
A school called Hodgsons Vale Provisional School opened here on June 14, 1906. It later became Hodgsons Vale State School in 1909. The school helped educate children in the area for many years. However, it closed down in 1960. The old school was located at 161 Hodgson Vale Road.
