Hopewell Township is found on the southeastern edge of Beaver County. It covers a total area of about 44 square kilometers (17 square miles). Most of this area, about 43.4 square kilometers (16.75 square miles), is land. The rest, about 0.6 square kilometers (0.24 square miles), is water.
Since 1987, Hopewell has been home to a large industrial park. This park covers about 97.5 acres. It helps create jobs and supports the local economy.

Hopewell Township has many different neighbors. It surrounds the city of Aliquippa on three sides. It also borders the small town of South Heights to the southeast.
The eastern side of the township follows the Ohio River. Other neighbors include Independence to the southwest. Raccoon is in the northwestern corner. Center is to the north and northwest. Finally, Crescent and Moon are to the southeast in Allegheny County.

Understanding USAir Flight 427
On September 8, 1994, a sad event happened near Hopewell Township. USAir Flight 427 crashed while getting ready to land at Pittsburgh International Airport. All 132 people on board, including passengers and crew, were lost.
Investigators later found that the crash was caused by a problem with the Boeing 737 airplane's rudder system. This tragic event led to important changes in aviation safety.
