Hyampom (Wintun: Xaayin-pom) is a small community in Trinity County, California, US. It is called a census-designated place (CDP) because the US Census Bureau collects data about it.
Hyampom is located high up in the Trinity Mountains. It sits at about 1,503 feet (458 meters) above sea level. In 2020, 241 people lived there, which was the same number as in 2010.

History of Hyampom
The name "Hyampom" comes from the Wintu language. It means "peaceful place." Long ago, Native American tribes like the Whilkut, Chimariko, and Northern Wintun lived here.
An explorer named Jedediah Strong Smith visited Hyampom in April 1828. The first non-native person to settle in the area was Hank Young. He moved to Hyampom on January 12, 1855.
Geography and Nature
Hyampom is in a small valley within the Trinity Mountains. The South Fork Trinity River and Hayfork Creek flow through the area. You can find many small beaches and swimming spots along the river.
The community also has a small landing strip for planes. The entire area of Hyampom covers about 20.3 square miles (52.5 square kilometers) of land.
Hyampom's Climate
Hyampom has warm, dry summers. The temperature often goes above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) during the day. However, the nights are much cooler, usually around 50-60 degrees Fahrenheit (10-15 degrees Celsius).
In winter, it sometimes snows, but usually not a lot. The nearby town of Hayfork, which is higher up, gets more snow. Hyampom gets about 40 to 45 inches (100 to 114 centimeters) of rain each year.

Local Businesses and Jobs
The main jobs in Hyampom are in tourism and winemaking. Many people also work at the local school or for the county road department.
A children's camp called Bar 717 Ranch is also a big employer. It was started by Grover Gates, whose family moved to Hyampom in 1901.
In the 1970s, there was a sawmill owned by Jack Beebe. Its large, cone-shaped "teepee burner" can still be seen today. This mill provided many jobs and even housing for families.
Today, Hyampom has a general store, a bar that also sells hardware, and a bar with a grill. There is also a vineyard and an antique shop.

In 2010, Hyampom had a population of 241 people. Most of the people lived in homes, not in group housing.
The population included people of different ages:

- About 39.8% were aged 45 to 64.
- About 17.8% were 65 years or older.

Schools in Hyampom
The elementary school in Hyampom has closed. This means that high school students and younger children must ride a bus every weekday. The bus ride is about 24 miles (38 kilometers) long, on winding mountain roads, to attend classes in Hayfork.
