Ibrahim Roshdy Mahlab (born May 8, 1949) is an Egyptian engineer and politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Egypt from 2014 to 2015. Before that, he was Egypt's Minister of Housing.

Mahlab's Early Career and Rise

Ibrahim Mahlab started his career as an engineer. He joined a company called Arab Contractors. He worked hard and moved up in the company. By the 1990s, he became a deputy CEO. In 2001, he became the CEO of the company.
Mahlab was also involved in politics. He was a member of the Shura Council in 2010. This was like an upper house of parliament. He was chosen by President Hosni Mubarak. He also belonged to the Policies Committee of Mubarak's National Democratic Party. This was before the big changes in Egypt in 2011.
Becoming a Government Minister
Mahlab left his CEO role at Arab Contractors in 2012. After a major change in the Egyptian government in 2013, Hazem el-Beblawi became the interim Prime Minister. Mahlab was then chosen to be the Minister of Housing. This job meant he was in charge of housing and city planning.
Serving as Prime Minister of Egypt
Later, Prime Minister el-Beblawi's government resigned. Ibrahim Mahlab was then asked to form a new government. He became the interim Prime Minister on March 1, 2014. He said his government would focus on two main things. First, they would work to make Egypt safe again. Second, they would try to make the economy stronger.
After he was sworn in, Mahlab stressed that security was the most important issue. He also asked people to stop protests and strikes. During his time as Prime Minister, he worked with important leaders. This included the head of the Egyptian Coptic Church, Pope Tawadros II.
Mahlab was reappointed as Prime Minister on June 17, 2014. He resigned on September 12, 2015. However, his government stayed in place until a new one was formed.

Ibrahim Mahlab is married. He can speak several languages. These include Arabic, English, French, and Portuguese.
