In Harmony: A Sesame Street Record and In Harmony 2 are two special music albums made for children. They feature many different famous singers and groups. These albums won a very important award called the Grammy Award for being the best children's recordings! The first album came out in 1980, and the second one followed in 1981.

About the Albums

The first album, In Harmony: A Sesame Street Record, was released by Warner Bros. Records. It has a direct connection to the popular TV show Sesame Street. This album includes a song sung by the famous Sesame Street characters Ernie and Cookie Monster.

The second album, In Harmony 2, was released by Columbia Records. Even though it doesn't have any Muppet characters, some of the money from its sales was given to the Children's Television Workshop and other charities for kids.

Grammy Award Wins

Both In Harmony albums won the Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children. The first album won at the 23rd Grammy Awards, and the second one won at the 25th Grammy Awards. The awards were given to the producers of the albums, David Levine and Lucy Simon.

Chart Success

Only the first In Harmony album appeared on the music charts. It reached number 156 on the Billboard 200 chart. One song from the first album, "Wynken, Blynken and Nod" by The Doobie Brothers, was released as a single. It reached number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Another song, "One Good Turn" by Al Jarreau, did not make it onto the charts.

Bruce Springsteen's Song

A very popular song on the second album is "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" sung by Bruce Springsteen. This version was recorded live at C. W. Post College in Brookville, New York, on December 12, 1975.

This recording of the song is played on the radio every year around Christmastime. Because of this, it has appeared on Billboard magazine's Hot Singles Recurrents chart many times. In Harmony 2 was the first album to feature this famous recording. Later, it was also released on other music collections.
