Järfälla Municipality (which means Järfälla kommun in Swedish) is a special area in Stockholm County, Sweden. It's like a town or district that manages its own local affairs. Järfälla is considered a suburb of Stockholm, the capital city.
The main town in Järfälla is called Jakobsberg. It's part of the larger Stockholm urban area. Järfälla is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Stockholm. Part of it is right by the beautiful Lake Mälaren. You can reach downtown Stockholm in about 20 minutes by Stockholm commuter rail.
Järfälla has kept its original borders for a long time. It wasn't combined with other areas in the big changes that happened in the 1900s. However, a small part called Stäket was added in 1952.

History of Järfälla
Järfälla has a very long history. People lived here as far back as the Stone Age. You can even find old ruins from that time.
Around the year 1200, a church was built after the area became Christian. This old church is still standing today. Järfälla was important in the Middle Ages because many key roads passed through it. Also, the center of the local district, called a "hundred," was in Järfälla from 1675 to 1905.
The Coat of Arms
Järfälla has its own special symbol, called a coat of arms. It shows a golden lamb holding an archbishop's cross. This symbol has been around since 1568, but the current design was made in 1955. It might show that Järfälla is on the road from Stockholm to Uppsala, where the archbishop lives.
Growth of the Area
Järfälla grew a lot in the 1930s and 1940s. Many homes were built in Jakobsberg, the main town. These homes were for middle-class families who traveled to Stockholm for work.
Getting Around Järfälla
Järfälla has a good public transport system. You can use it to get around the municipality and to Stockholm.
There are three train stations for the Stockholm commuter rail:
