Jaguar is a small community, also known as a barrio, located in the town of Gurabo, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 735 people lived there. It's a part of the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.

A Glimpse into Jaguar's Past

After the Spanish–American War ended in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the U.S.

In 1899, the United States Department of War carried out a census (a count of the population) in Puerto Rico. They found that the combined population of Jaguar and the nearby Masa barrios was 1,270 people.
