Jaime Bryant Piet Peters (born May 4, 1987) is a former professional soccer player from Canada. He played as a right wing-back, which is a player who helps both in defense and attack on the side of the field. Jaime Peters played for the Canadian national team at different age levels. He was also part of the U20 team that played in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Early Career and Youth Teams

Jaime Peters grew up in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. As a young player, he played for youth soccer clubs like North Scarborough SC and C.S. Azzurri in Toronto.

In 2003, when he was 16, Peters joined the youth team of a German club called 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Two years later, he had a big decision to make. He turned down offers from famous English clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United. Instead, he chose to join Ipswich Town. This decision was made based on advice from Frank Yallop, who used to coach the Canadian national team. Peters spent the rest of that season with Ipswich Town's youth academy. He needed a special permit to work in England, which he received that summer.

Playing for Clubs

After getting his work permit, Jaime Peters made his first appearance for Ipswich Town. This happened in the first game of the 2005–06 season. He came into the game as a substitute and helped his team win 1–0 against Cardiff City. Even though he faced competition from other players and had some injuries, he played 13 games that season. He also scored three goals in a reserve team game, helping Ipswich win 8–1 against Watford's reserve team.

For the 2006–07 season, Ipswich Town's manager, Jim Magilton, suggested that Peters go on loan to another club to get more experience playing in first-team games. However, Peters decided to stay with Ipswich. He played 11 games that season and was given the "most improved player" award. He also signed a new three-year contract with the club.

After playing three games on loan for Gillingham, Peters returned to Ipswich. He played his first game of the 2008–09 season on April 19, 2009. This was a big derby game against Norwich City, which Ipswich won 3–2. He came on as a substitute because another player was injured. Peters played two more games that season against Cardiff City and Coventry City, making a total of three appearances for Ipswich.

When Peters came back to Ipswich in mid-2009 from his loan spells, the new manager, Roy Keane, tried him out in a new position: right back. Peters had an injury at the start of the season but returned to play against Middlesbrough on September 12, 2009. He signed a new contract that would keep him at the club until 2013. Ten days later, on December 26, 2009, Peters scored his first goal for Ipswich Town. It was in a game they lost 3–1 against Crystal Palace. He finished the 2009–10 season having played 34 games and scoring one goal.

Playing as a right back worked well for Peters in the previous season. He played in the first 15 games of the 2010–11 season. Peters scored his first goal of that season against Scunthorpe United on September 25, in a game that ended in a 1–1 draw. One of his best games for Ipswich was in the League Cup Semi-Final first leg against Arsenal on January 12, 2011. Peters played so well against Arsenal's player Andrei Arshavin that the Arsenal manager had to take Arshavin out of the game. Ipswich won that game 1–0. After Paul Jewell became the new manager in January, Peters found it harder to get into the first team. He played only one league game for 12 minutes over a period of 14 matches. Despite this, Peters played 30 games and scored one goal in the 2010–11 season.

Peters played his first game of the 2011–12 season in the League Cup against Northampton Town on August 9, which Ipswich lost 2–1. After his loan spell at AFC Bournemouth ended, Peters did not play any more games for Ipswich during the rest of the 2011–12 season. The manager, Paul Jewell, told Peters that he was not part of his plans for the next season. So, on August 23, 2012, Peters and the club agreed to end his contract early. This ended his seven years with Ipswich Town.

Loan Periods

After playing six games for Ipswich in the first half of the 2007–08 season, Peters was loaned to Yeovil Town. He joined them until the end of the season. Peters made his debut for Yeovil Town on February 2, 2008, in a 2–0 loss against Huddersfield Town. Even though he had an ankle injury, Peters returned to the team and scored a goal in the last game of the season. He played 14 games and scored one goal for Yeovil. The club wanted to sign him permanently, but it did not happen.

Peters did not play any games for Ipswich in the first half of the 2008–09 season. So, on January 22, 2009, he joined Gillingham on a one-month loan. He made his debut on January 24, 2009, as a substitute in a 1–0 home win. While at Gillingham, Peters played alongside another Canadian player, Simeon Jackson. After playing three games, his loan with Gillingham ended after one month.

Peters continued to struggle for playing time at Ipswich. In late September, he was loaned out to Bournemouth in League One for one month. Peters played his first game for Bournemouth on September 24, 2011. He started the game and played for 84 minutes in a 2–1 loss. The manager, Lee Bradbury, was happy with Peters' performance and extended his loan for a second month. Peters returned to Ipswich in early December. He played eight league games and two cup games during his loan spell.

Later Career

After leaving Ipswich, Peters had a trial with Yeovil Town, hoping to rejoin his former club and earn a contract.

In January 2013, Peters had a trial with Major League Soccer team Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Canada. However, he was released in mid-February.

After almost nine years away from professional soccer, Peters joined a semi-professional team called Master's FA in League1 Ontario for the 2021 season.

Playing for Canada

Jaime Peters played for the Canada U20 national team in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. He was also part of the Canada U20 squad for the 2007 FIFA World Youth Championship, which was held in Canada.

He made his first appearance for the senior Canadian national team in August 2004, when he was just 17 years old. This game was against Guatemala. Throughout his international career, he played 26 times for Canada and scored one goal. He played in five FIFA World Cup qualification matches and in the 2005 and 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments. His first and only goal for Canada was in a friendly game against Panama on June 4, 2008.
