Jalil Carter, born on July 18, 1989, is an American who used to play professional football. He was a cornerback, a defensive player who tries to stop the other team from catching the ball. He played college football for the Akron Zips.
Carter played for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was part of the team that won the 100th Grey Cup, which is like their championship game. He also played for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL and the Cleveland Gladiators in the Arena Football League.

Early Life and High School Sports
Jalil Carter grew up in Toledo, Ohio. He went to St. John's Jesuit High School. He was a fantastic athlete there, playing both football and running track.
In football, he was a starter for two years. He played as a wide receiver (catching passes) and a cornerback (defending against passes). In his senior year, he caught 31 passes for 617 yards. He scored 16 touchdowns in his junior and senior years. He also made three interceptions as a senior. His team had a great record and made it to the state playoffs.
Carter was also a very fast sprinter on the track team. In his senior year, he won the 200-meter race at a big regional competition. He also placed second in the 100-meter race at the District Meet.
College Football Career
Carter went to the University of Akron from 2007 to 2009. He played as a cornerback for the Akron Zips football team.
Freshman Year (2007)
As a freshman, Carter played in all 12 games for the Zips. He was one of only two freshmen to play in every game. He mostly played on special teams, which are plays like kickoffs and punts. He also helped out as a backup free safety, another defensive position.
Sophomore Year (2008)
In his second year, Carter played in all 12 games again. He started the last seven games as a free safety. He made 48 tackles that season, which was the ninth-highest on his team. He also broke up four passes, forced a fumble, made an interception, and blocked a punt.
Junior Year (2009)
As a junior, Carter was recognized as a top player in his conference. He played in all 12 games and started the last seven as a strong safety. He made 58 tackles, which was third-best on the team. He also returned 13 kickoffs for 246 yards. In one game against Buffalo, he made a career-high 12 tackles and an interception.

St. Louis Rams
Jalil Carter signed with the St. Louis Rams on July 29, 2011. This was his first chance to play in the National Football League (NFL). However, he was released by the team a short time later, on August 9, 2011.
Cleveland Gladiators
In 2012, Carter played for the Cleveland Gladiators in the Arena Football League. This league plays football indoors on a smaller field. For the Gladiators, he made four solo tackles, six assisted tackles, one interception, and recovered one fumble.
Toronto Argonauts
Carter joined the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2012. He played in only four games that season but was very effective. He made 18 tackles and one special teams tackle.
The next year, in the 2013 CFL season, Carter played in 17 out of 18 regular season games. He had 48 defensive tackles, 3 special teams tackles, and made one quarterback sack. He also had one interception and one fumble recovery.
In his third CFL season, the 2014 CFL season, Carter again recorded 48 defensive tackles and 3 special teams tackles. He also made 5 interceptions, which is a great number for a defensive back. In January 2015, he was allowed to leave the Argonauts early so he could try to sign with an NFL team.
Minnesota Vikings
Just two days after leaving the Argonauts, Carter signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League. This was another chance for him to play in the NFL. However, he was released by the Vikings on August 31, 2015.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Later in 2015, Carter played in four games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. He started two of those games. During his time with the Tiger-Cats, he made nine defensive tackles and one special teams tackle.
