Jamaluddin bin Mohd Jarjis (born May 25, 1951 – died April 4, 2015) was an important Malaysian politician and diplomat. He served as the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation. He also led the 1 Malaysia Peoples' Housing (PR1MA) and was Malaysia's special representative to the United States.

Early Life and Education
Jamaluddin Jarjis was born on May 25, 1951, in Pekan, Pahang. He loved learning and studied engineering.
He earned a top degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom in 1974. Later, he got his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manitoba in Canada in 1977. He completed his studies with a PhD in Electrical Engineering from McGill University in 1980.
Political Journey and Achievements
Jamaluddin was a Member of Parliament (MP) for Rompin, Pahang, from 1990 until his death. An MP is a person chosen by voters to represent them in the country's parliament. He was also part of the UMNO Supreme Council starting in May 2000.
As the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Jamaluddin played a big role in the Angkasawan program. This program made Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor the first Malaysian to travel into space. This historic event happened on October 10, 2007, when Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor went to the International Space Station.
Important Government Roles
Jamaluddin held several key positions in the Malaysian government:
- Second Minister of Finance (November 2002 – January 2004): In this role, he helped manage the country's money and economy.
- Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (January 2004 – March 2004): He worked to protect consumers and ensure fair trade within Malaysia.
- Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (March 2004 – March 2008): He was in charge of promoting new technologies and scientific advancements, including the space program.
- Ambassador of Malaysia to the United States (July 2009 – February 2012): As an ambassador, he represented Malaysia in the United States, working to build good relationships between the two countries.
Family Life
Jamaluddin was married to Dr. Kalsom Ismail, who was a dentist. They had four children together.
His Passing
On April 4, 2015, Jamaluddin Jarjis sadly passed away in a helicopter accident. The helicopter, an AS 3655N2 Dauphin, crashed into a jungle near Semenyih, Selangor. Other people also died in the accident, including a businessman and a private secretary from the Prime Minister's Office.
Jamaluddin was buried at Makam Pahlawan, which is a special burial ground for heroes, located near the Masjid Negara in Kuala Lumpur.
