Jarret Webster Johnson (born August 14, 1981) is a former American football player. He played the linebacker position for 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). A linebacker is a defensive player who tries to stop the other team from scoring.
Johnson played college football for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was then chosen by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2003 NFL draft. He also played for the San Diego Chargers before retiring.

Early Life and High School
Jarret Johnson grew up in Cedar Key, Florida. He went to Chiefland High School, where he was a star football player. He played as a defensive end and tackle. In his third year, he was named to the second-team all-state team and helped his team reach the state championship game.
College Football Career
Johnson went to the University of Alabama and played defensive end for the famous Crimson Tide team. He was a great leader and was the only player in the team's history to be chosen as a captain twice.
During his senior year, he was named a First-team All-SEC player and a Second-team All-American. These are major awards for college football players. He finished his college career with 23 sacks, which was the second-highest number in the university's history at the time. Only the legendary Derrick Thomas had more.

Baltimore Ravens (2003–2011)
The Baltimore Ravens selected Jarret Johnson in the fourth round of the 2003 NFL draft. In his first year, he played in 15 games and recorded 18 tackles. He quickly became an important part of the team's defense.
In 2005, he became a regular starter and had 61 tackles and 1.5 sacks. By 2007, he was so valuable that the Ravens signed him to a new five-year contract. That year, he started every game and had a career-high 94 tackles, even with a broken thumb.
In 2009, Pro Football Weekly magazine called him one of the most underrated (or overlooked) players in the NFL. He continued to play well, recording 6 sacks and 2 interceptions that season. Johnson was known for being tough and reliable. He set a team record by playing in 129 straight regular-season games.
San Diego Chargers (2012–2014)
On March 14, 2012, Johnson signed a four-year contract with the San Diego Chargers. He brought experience and stability to their defense. He also acted as a mentor, helping younger players like Melvin Ingram improve.
In his first season with the Chargers, he helped the team's defense become one of the best in the league, especially at stopping running plays. In 2014, his teammates voted him the team's Most Inspirational Player.
Johnson announced his retirement from professional football on February 24, 2015, after a successful 12-year career.
Life After Football
After retiring as a player, Johnson didn't stay away from the game for long. In 2017, he joined the Baltimore Ravens radio broadcast team. He worked as a color analyst, providing expert commentary during four regular-season games.
Personal Life
Johnson married his wife, Anna, in 2004. They live in Niceville, Florida.
He is a big fan of the outdoors and enjoys boating, hunting, and fishing. He comes from a family of commercial fishermen. His great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all worked on the water. Sadly, his father was lost at sea when Jarret was seven years old.
